traditional methods , I was opposed to the following method of filling , but it works well in many applications :
Wood sanded to 320/280 . 6,12, or 24 hr epoxy squeegeed into the wood in direction of grain . Srape off all possible epoxy . Use credit card/smooth plastic scraper . Rough sand between coats . Repeat untill filled flat . Final coat may be of epoxy alcohol 50/50
applied thin w/clean cloth . .
ZPOXY , Pacer Tech is good .
Try using a credit ... By: tuningpin. on 13 Oct 08, 17:04:08 Try using a credit card or putty knife type straight edge to squeegie it into the pores. They say to go across the grain but I always go with when putting in to avoid lap marks. After it sets up use burlap across the grain to get the residue off and then sand it smooth the next day. Always fill and sand prior to any staining or finishing to get a nice clear color. If you fill after it looks milky in the pores.

If you just need to ... By: djmiller1948. on 21 Mar 09, 21:02:52 If you just need to remove the old varnish I use The Victorian House Wood Refinisher. It has no water so it won't raise the grain and you will never need to sand. This save the patina of the wood. You decide if you want to restain, but it won't pull the original color out of the wood, so its just a matter of removing the finish that looks bad and replacing it with a new finish. I like the Tung Oil made by this company too. Its on the web The Victorian House Products, made in Oklahoma. DJ
